In an off election year, make YearlyKos the candidate you support
Sat Apr 07, 2007 at 09:20:32 AM PDT
I have to admit that my favorite candidate in 2006 didn't win. Charlie Brown in CA-04 is a guy I've met a couple times and someone for whom I have tremendous respect. It doesn't hurt that his opponent, Congressman John Doolittle, is a crazy, crazy man. It appears he is running again in 2008 and he sent an email out a couple weeks back, asking for contributions. I am a grad student, so I'm probably not Charlie's target audience for that email, but I sent him a very modest sum, $25, because I think someday he'll make a wonderful representative for Northeastern California.
And I volunteer my time to help organize the YearlyKos Convention and I'm asking you to make a similar donation today during our spring fundraising drive.

Internet Radio Under Attack
Tue Mar 06, 2007 at 08:35:27 AM PDT
I don't know how many of y'all ever listen to internet radio, but I personally don't care to imagine life without Radio Paradise. Since I've been online this morning I've heard Bruce Springsteen, Talking Heads, Belle & Sebastian, Stevie Wonder, The Arcade Fire and countless other bands I've never heard of but are tremendous.
Now the Copyright Royalty Board has decided to increase the fees on internet radio from about 10-12% of Radio Paradise's annual gross income to about 125% of their gross annual income.
And FM stations don't pay a dime.... more on the flip

Rahm: Championing the right things....
Sun Nov 26, 2006 at 09:46:35 AM PDT
This great news about Rahm Emanuel is predicated on a huge if, that is if Douche bag of Liberty, Robert Novack can be believed then Rahm is doing a tremendous, great, outstanding, wonderful thing for our country:
Emanuel intends to push reforms restricting earmarks, gifts and travel. "Failure to deliver on this promise," said his memo, "would be devastating to our standing with the public and certainly jeopardize some of our marginal seats."
On Iraq, Jim Webb, and great vs. perfect candidates
Wed Nov 01, 2006 at 09:10:24 AM PDT
One of my classmates saw my Jim Webb (Born Fighting!!!) sticker on my folder last week and proceeded to chastise for supporting someone who "said all those bad things about women." Now, I've gotten in the habit of dismissing comments like that from people who are so quick to talk but so slow to invest time into seeing their "prefect candidate" get elected, but this time I explained to her that if (God forbid) John Paul Stevens dies in the next term, George Allen could be the difference between getting another anti-choice judge on the Supreme Court for what could be the rest of my working life or putting a moderate in that seat.
