We hope everyone out there is as excited about attending Netroots Nation '08 in Austin as we are about organizing it. In the few weeks that we've had registration open we've had a huge response from the community resulting in some early stats unheard of in conference organizing.
I've just got a few updates about registration rates and various other items for everyone to consider as the holiday season gets in full swing and politics takes a back seat to family, friends and gifts.
The early bird rate to register for Netroots Nation '08 is currently $250 a person (The introductory rate of $175 expired on Dec 1st). That includes 4 days filled with all the panels, candidates, socializing, and boozing you can handle in one of the most fun cities in the country, and most of your meals as well. This rate will be increasing to $375 at 11:59PM Pacific time on Thursday December 27th. Make sure you don't miss out on the lowest rate possible before the convention, and tell your friends.
When you register you'll also have the option to pre-order convention t-shirts (design is forthcoming), grab a copy of the photo documentary of the first convention titled unConventional, or make an additional donation.
I also have a few other miscellaneous notes for everyone.
I believe word has been around about this already but here goes. When we first opened registration Amex was not working as a payment option. That has been resolved for a while so that is an option.
We got a few requests to allow people to use checks so we made an e-check option available that can draw funds from a personal or business checking account. Just select the e-check option when you are paying.
If anyone has questions about registering, is experiencing problems, or if you have some kind of special payment request then just email us and we'll see what we can do. Shoot an email off to registration@netrootsnation.org and we'll try to help.
If you need information about booking at the convention hotel just follow this link. We've had a couple of situations in the past where people have called or tried to reserve online and the hotel says the block is full. This isn't accurate, they have just hit a limit they set internally before they release more rooms. We'll let everyone know when the hotel is close to capacity. If you do have any problems though, go to our contact page and select the "lodging-travel" category to email Nolan about it.
If you'd like to make a donation to Netroots Nation, whether you are planning to attend or not, you can do so from our donation page.
That's about it, I'll hang out in the comments for a little bit and answer any questions I can but if you don't get a response please use the aforementioned email address.
As a final thought, check out this video of YKC 07 that Nerdcore Rising recently produced.
